  • Pathfinder Unchained started; issues to be discussed on _exp with the code and arch teams.

Raw Log

  • Minor typographical errors fixed...
  • [06:04] <@Andrew[Chair]> We all ready to begin then?
  • [06:04] <James[Code_SB]> Sure
  • [06:04] <@Andrew[Chair]> (Coffee or Tea for us Morning time zones)
  • [06:05] <@Andrew[Chair]> *Bangs Gavel* Meeting called to order.
  • [06:05] <@Andrew[Chair]> Welcome everyone to the Board of Director's meeting for May 9th
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Our Agenda(s) for this meeting:
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> (Assuming Deep Dive)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Call to order/Agenda (Andrew 1 minute)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Release of Alpha 6.05.02 (James 2 minutes)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Deep Dive Discussion (Tom 40 minutes)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Wrap up questions and assignments (10 minutes)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> or if no deep dive then:
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Call to order/Agenda (Andrew 1 minute)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Team Reports/Discussion (All SBs 10 minutes each)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Release of Alpha 6.05.02 (James 2 minutes)
  • [06:06] <@Andrew[Chair]> Wrap up questions and open forum (Andrew 10 minutes)
  • [06:07] <Tom[Arch_SB]> I don't have a deep dive prepped - didn't realize that was the agenda
  • [06:07] <@Andrew[Chair]> Good thing I prepped for either contingency then. ;)
  • [06:08] <James[Code_SB]> For monthly meetings I expect we will almost always be doing team reports rather than deep dive
  • [06:08] <@Andrew[Chair]> I'll begin with the Team Reports
  • [06:08] <@Andrew[Chair]> Content Team:
  • [06:09] <@Andrew[Chair]> OS - Since the last meeting no activity.
  • [06:09] <@Andrew[Chair]> Docs - Nothing to report
  • [06:10] <@Andrew[Chair]> Data - Closed 4 reported bugs, and just laid out the ground work for every Archetype in Advanced Class Guide.
  • [06:12] <@Andrew[Chair]> As a side note CHOOSE:SPELLS seems to be having issues on several fronts.
  • [06:12] <@Andrew[Chair]> That's it for Content, questions?
  • [06:12] <@Zaister> I have started some simple work on Pathfinder Unchained.
  • [06:13] <@Zaister> But only alternate classes. If we want to implement stuff such as variant skill systems, that is going to be… difficult
  • [06:13] <Tom[Arch_SB]> so are the CHOOSE:SPELLS issues the ones already reported as bugs?
  • [06:14] <Tom[Arch_SB]> (We need more detail to be able to address things)
  • [06:14] <@Andrew[Chair]> Tom - Yes
  • [06:14] <@Andrew[Chair]> Should be at least two JIRA tickets open in Code.
  • [06:14] <Tom[Arch_SB]> ok ty
  • [06:15] <James[Code_SB]> http://jira.pcgen.org/browse/CODE-2626 and http://jira.pcgen.org/browse/CODE-2846 are the ones I think
  • [06:16] <[OGL]Nylanfs> Ook Eric
  • [06:16] <Maredudd> OokOok!
  • [06:16] <Tom[Arch_SB]> thanks James
  • [06:16] <@Andrew[Chair]> Eric - HI!, James/Tom - Yes, those are the two.
  • [06:16] <@Andrew[Chair]> Paul, is PR ready?
  • [06:17] <[OGL]Nylanfs> What there is, there hasn't been much movement on the PR front
  • [06:18] <[OGL]Nylanfs> Although with WotC announcing the licensing deal with FG I think that if there is an OGL it will ONLY reference the Basic Rules
  • [06:18] <@Zaister> That seems likely, yes
  • [06:19] <[OGL]Nylanfs> So my next step is going to be approaching WotC and getting permission for releasing the Basic Rules included and see if there are any ways to discuss the rest of the books.
  • [06:20] <Maredudd> I haven't looked and 5th ed, or D&D Next, what ever they're calling it. Will PCGen handle it?
  • [06:20] <[OGL]Nylanfs> And I haven't had any success getting a hold of Wolfgang Baur for Kobold Press approval
  • [06:21] <@Zaister> Yes, 5E is much closer to 3E mechanisms
  • [06:21] <Maredudd> What permission are looking for from Wolfgang?
  • [06:21] <[OGL]Nylanfs> Yes BD has a working set for 5e
  • [06:21] <[OGL]Nylanfs> It was the transition from Open Design to KP, we never got permission for the new company
  • [06:22] <@Zaister> Ah, should only be a formality I gues
  • [06:22] <[OGL]Nylanfs> Basically just a documentation
  • [06:22] <Maredudd> I can take a shot at it if you like. I still need to finish he Drakes book.
  • [06:23] <[OGL]Nylanfs> K, I;m not sure if the emails are just getting shuffled into a spam folder on their end or what
  • [06:24] <@Zaister> Paul: you try cathcing him on twitter
  • [06:24] <@Andrew[Chair]> Hi Distant_Scholar - ook!
  • [06:24] <Distant_Scholar> Howdy, y'all. What'd I miss?
  • [06:24] <@Zaister> his handle is @monkeyking
  • [06:24] <[OGL]Nylanfs> We volunteered you do do everything
  • [06:25] <Distant_Scholar> So, same-old same-old.
  • [06:25] <@Andrew[Chair]> DS - Agenda, Team Reports - Content and PR (and you've been volunteered to do everything)
  • [06:26] <@Andrew[Chair]> Thanks Paul, anything else to add before we proceed to Tom's Arch report?
  • [06:26] <[OGL]Nylanfs> I think that is it for PR
  • [06:26] <Maredudd> So I see the advantage to NOT ask what I've missed . . . :-)
  • [06:27] <@Andrew[Chair]> Yoda Voice: Wisdom Gained you have, yes.
  • [06:27] <@Andrew[Chair]> Tom, you're up.
  • [06:27] <Tom[Arch_SB]> Very little to report here - have been juggling some RL priorities
  • [06:28] <Tom[Arch_SB]> On code, still have issues on end of line items that I haven't chased down where specifically they are, so there is at least one patch held up by that
  • [06:28] <Tom[Arch_SB]> Arch level work has been on hold effectively
  • [06:28] <Tom[Arch_SB]> Unfortunately not much more to add
  • [06:29] <@Zaister> really been quiet lately
  • [06:29] <@Andrew[Chair]> I have a couple of weeks free from School, any chance we can get that EoL issue resolved to move forward?
  • [06:29] <@Zaister> EoL?
  • [06:29] <@Andrew[Chair]> (End of line)
  • [06:29] <@Zaister> hmm I guess I missed that issue
  • [06:30] <James[Code_SB]> I might try adding a git attributes file - we should have one anyway
  • [06:30] <Tom[Arch_SB]> I have a patch that is trying to replace a whole file rather than a few lines
  • [06:30] <Tom[Arch_SB]> and changing the git settings to different line endings doesn't seem to change behavior
  • [06:30] <Tom[Arch_SB]> So I'm just missing a quick of my setup somewhere
  • [06:31] <Tom[Arch_SB]> *quirk
  • [06:33] <@Andrew[Chair]> Hopefully we can get that resolved shortly.
  • [06:34] <@Andrew[Chair]> I haven't heard from Anestis; nothing to report for Admin.
  • [06:35] <@Andrew[Chair]> James, you're up for Code.
  • [06:36] <James[Code_SB]> Nothing much to report for code - all away with RL
  • [06:38] <@Andrew[Chair]> Any chance we can tweak Travis to get that back working? Everything from it is failure for my end with each commit.
  • [06:38] <James[Code_SB]> Haven't had a chance to look at that - I'll need to get the failure output to diagnose it
  • [06:39] <@Andrew[Chair]> I can send you an email or url link then.
  • [06:39] <James[Code_SB]> Jenkins passes the tests though, so it might be a config change with the travis hosting
  • [06:39] <James[Code_SB]> Sure, that would be good
  • [06:39] <@Andrew[Chair]> I suspect so.
  • [06:40] <@Andrew[Chair]> I suspect no further questions for code on the report, which moves us onto the next agenda item:
  • [06:40] <@Andrew[Chair]> Release of Alpha 6.05.02 (James 2 minutes)
  • [06:41] <James[Code_SB]> ok, that's well overdue. If I get a chance I'll try and do it next week, failing that it will be two weeks before I'll have the opportunity
  • [06:41] <James[Code_SB]> Anyone mind if it is short notice?
  • [06:42] <@Andrew[Chair]> It's well past due, I don't mind.
  • [06:44] <Tom[Arch_SB]> No concerns here
  • [06:45] <@Andrew[Chair]> James - Sounds like you're good. :)
  • [06:46] <@Andrew[Chair]> Moving onto the last agenda item:
  • [06:46] <@Andrew[Chair]> Wrap up questions and open forum (Andrew 10 minutes)
  • [06:47] <@Andrew[Chair]> I sent out an inquiry on the Y! Group boards. Basically asking for volunteers to give an update on their projects... I have not heard back from anyone... Seems real life has consumed a lot of us for the past few months.
  • [06:48] <Distant_Scholar> Sorry. I can update ACG status here, if you like.
  • [06:48] <@Zaister> I guess I’ll put up a post about the various optional subsystems from unchained and how we can possibly implement them
  • [06:49] <@Andrew[Chair]> I have committed to finishing Advanced Class Guide within the next couple of weeks. Since the Facebook messages asking for its completion (and errant bug reports) are getting a bit tiresome...
  • [06:50] <[OGL]Nylanfs> I looked at the Unchained stuff and it almost looks like it require a new gamemode
  • [06:50] <@Zaister> the problem with the ACG is that the book is unfortunately fraught with editing error. everyone is anxiously awaiting the official errata document
  • [06:50] <@Zaister> Paul: yes that might actually be necessary
  • [06:50] <@Andrew[Chair]> Doug - Certainly, if you have any pending updates, push them to a repo please. I'm working on Archetypes as we speak.
  • [06:50] <Distant_Scholar> Nylanfs: Unchained may require several new gamemodes, depending on which options are implemented.
  • [06:51] <@Zaister> the options can however be combined
  • [06:51] <@Andrew[Chair]> Zaister - I suspect many of the impossible issues will be resolved by the new formula parser system.
  • [06:51] <Tom[Arch_SB]> Can we have that discussion on _exp
  • [06:51] <Distant_Scholar> Zaister: I hear that claimed, but I haven't had any real problems yet. Maybe they're all in Chapter 2.
  • [06:51] <Tom[Arch_SB]> I'd like to not assume what can/can't be done without seeing it
  • [06:51] <@Zaister> Distant_Scholar: maybe
  • [06:51] <Distant_Scholar> ACG status: Chapter 1 - all classes entered and checked. Favored class options seem entered, but I've only checked the Dwarf ones. It shouldn't take long to finish up.
  • [06:52] <@Zaister> Andrew[Chair]: I think it’s more that that. such as replacing the complete skill system. or havin two different pools of skill ranks. or combining the two
  • [06:52] <Distant_Scholar> ACG status: Chapter 2 - some parts are done, many are not. This will likely require the most work (and be the trickiest).
  • [06:52] <@Zaister> ...the two
  • [06:52] <@Zaister> just as an example
  • [06:52] <Distant_Scholar> ACG Status: Chapter 3 - Mostly done; just some error checking left, from what I understand.
  • [06:52] <Distant_Scholar> ACG Status: Chapters 4-6: Done and checked.
  • [06:53] <@Andrew[Chair]> Ziaster: Let's take the books issues to _Exp then; we can properly discuss the issues and figure out solutions with the code/arch teams.
  • [06:53] <@Zaister> sure
  • [06:53] <@Zaister> I’ll put up an overview
  • [06:54] <@Andrew[Chair]> Zaister: Excellent, thanks.
  • [06:54] <@Andrew[Chair]> Distant_Scholar: Do you have any pending updates not pushed into the repo for the ACG set?
  • [06:55] <Distant_Scholar> Very few; just some stuff for Dwarf FCBs.
  • [06:55] <@Andrew[Chair]> Okay, push those in when you finish then.
  • [06:56] <@Andrew[Chair]> ALL: Anyone else with a comment/question before we wrap up this meeting?
  • [06:56] <@Andrew[Chair]> (Open Forum time)
  • [06:57] <Maredudd> Not from me.
  • [06:57] <Distant_Scholar> Nothing immediate.
  • [06:58] <Tom[Arch_SB]> not here
  • [06:58] <James[Code_SB]> None from me
  • [06:59] <@Andrew[Chair]> *Bangs Gavel* Meeting adjourned. Thanks for coming everyone!
